Almond milk is made from ground almonds and water. This is not an animal product and is therefor very suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Lactose and cholesterol is something this product has not. Either does it have any saturated fat.
This is a product to avoid if you have tree nut allergies.
Manufactures see little need in fortifying this product since it has a vast range of essential vitamins and mineral: magnesium, selenium, manganese, potassium, fiber, iron, zinc, phosphorous, calcium and vitamin E. One glass of almond milk provides you with 50% of your needed daily intake.
Almond milk has a higher nutritional value then lets say rice milk, and has therefor more health benefits.
When it comes to calories almond got rice beaten again. Almond milk has 40 calories pr serving, but has the same amount of fat, 3 grams. Some people actually choose a milk mix of rice and almond. I am amongst these people, it gives it a little more pleasant taste than pure rice milk.
